About

Who am I?

My name is Gerhard J. Loots and I have been practicing architecture since 1989 when I took my first job at an Architect’s office. I went solo in January 1994 and have never looked back since.

I was awarded with a Bachelor in Architecture degree (BAS) in April 2021 by the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). I also hold a National Diploma in Project Management. I am currently completing my Masters in Architecture degree through the University of Free State (UOFS) in Bloemfontein.

I am SACAP registered (#21241).

I am vastly experienced in all types of architectural developments ranging from small additions to homes to big developments, like malls. I provide the following services:

  1. Architectural Design from concept stage.
  2. 3D Renderings (Photo Realistic).
  3. Building Plans & Working Drawings.
  4. Site Development Plans (SDP’s).
  5. Municipal Approved Building Plans.
  6. Site Supervision.
  7. Project Management.

I also provide the following related services:

  • Removal of Restrictions from Title Deeds,
  • Departure Applications
  • Rezoning Applications.

I am mostly based in Cape Town, but have a client base stretching from East London, Port Elizabeth, Garden Route, Overberg, Helderberg, Boland and of course the City of Cape Town Metropole.

I have also done projects all over South Africa (Johannesburg, Bloemfontein & Clarens) and even neighboring countries, like Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia.

I love to travel, meet new people and to do projects in new places. In this modern day, South Africa has one set of SANS Building Regulations to which everyone must conform. Most municipalities have also now switched to online submission procedures only. This makes it feasible and easy to take on projects all over the country, without even having to travel to the location. The beauty of the online submission procedures is that I can submit Land Use Applications (Departures, etc) and Building Development Applications (Building Plans) from anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night … and can then track the progress daily via the online portal.

It is a beautiful thing.

Where are the days when we had to draw everything on a drawing board? We certainly have come a long way since I first started out in 1989.
